This is the decade that started with the opening of a dome and ended with the megahype of ‘Avatar’. The noughties brought us the launch of reality TV with Big Brother, mockumentaries like The Office and the re-birth of the TV talent show with Pop Idol, Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor. Technology and music advanced with the launch of the iPod and YouTube. We saw the sad demise of Top Of The Pops and Twitter suddenly made the news headlines with Stephen Fry’s SOS tweet from a lift. Then there was Kylie Minogue’s perfect bottom...
Pop music from the 00s saw the continuation of many bands from the 90s, but also launched the careers of many pop artists who are still going strong. Most importantly it was also a decade of brilliant, catchy pop songs.
‘The Noughties’ brings together 60 top ten hits with a massive 38 no. 1s from 2000 to 2009. The early part of the noughties is represented by the likes of Robbie Williams and All Saints and from 2009 there’s JLS and Black-Eyed Peas.
Whilst it might feel a little early to be nostalgic about a decade that only finished 4 years ago, these songs represent 10 years of brilliant pop music and ‘The Noughties’ will be a great collection for anyone who grew up and enjoyed popular music during the 00s.
